Motion and Emotion Across the Ocean
By Huckleberry / Tunefruit.com
You might remember from awhile back (or at least you should remember!) our discussion about motion being perceived through music, as well as there being general emotions that we attach to music [click to view the blog post]. You probably read the post and thought “Yeah, whatever—music is cultural.” But check out the video below – click the picture:
NERD ALERT: The guy in the video has an Einstein bobblehead on his bookshelf; plus he’s wearing a Carl Sagan shirt. … You know he knows what he’s talking about!
When the music experiment in the US and Cambodia (referenced in the video) was conducted, the results were the same. Music and motion both convey emotion across cultural boundaries. So, it’s not just that music conveys emotion and creates motion in the brain, but there is an incredibly strong tie between motion and sound.
So, when you’re creating your awesome video, sound can be weaved in as a layer of motion; not just a cool background track.
The cool thing is that at Tunefruit.com, our Deep Tagging™ system allows music searches by movement, as well as emotion, or really almost anything else. When it comes to adding music to your online videos, we’ve got you covered.
